Delete my Kanzen account
Procedure for permanently deleting your account and associated data, in compliance with GDPR (article 17) and the Google Play and App Store policies.
Method 1 — From the app (recommended)
Deletion from the app is immediate and requires no waiting.
- Open the Kanzen app and sign in
- Go to Profile → Preferences → Account
- Tap "Delete my account"
- Confirm the deletion in the two successive dialog boxes
Method 2 — By email (if you no longer have access to the app)
If you have uninstalled the app or lost access to your account, send an email to:

Subject: Kanzen account deletion
In the body of the message, please include:
- the email address of the account to delete
- (optional) the reason for your request
We will process the deletion within 7 business days and send you a confirmation by email.
What gets deleted
- Email address, password, username, hanko, banner, friend code
- SRS progress (kanji seen, levels, intervals)
- Game statistics (Look-alikes, duels, seals)
- Duel history and ranking
- Friend relationships and invitations
- Personal mnemonics (private)
- Kanzen Plus subscription (the Apple or Google subscription itself must still be cancelled from your store account)
What is kept (anonymized)
- Public mnemonics adopted or voted on by other learners remain visible in the community library, but their link with your identity is irreversibly dissociated (author replaced by "Former user").
This policy preserves the learning experience of other users without revealing your identity.
Timing and backups
- Production data: erased immediately on deletion from the app, or within 7 days for an email request.
- Technical backups: automatically purged within 30 days as per the policy of our host Supabase (Ireland datacentre, EU).
- Billing data retained by Apple or Google under their own terms (accounting obligations).
